Flying Leap Inclusive Hiring Policy
The following language, adapted from the Dramatist’s Guild Inclusion Rider template, is attached as a rider to all contracts.
DEFINITIONS. The definition of the term “Historically Excluded Group(s)” includes people who identify themselves as women; Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC); Latine, Asian and/or Pacific Islander (API); Middle Eastern and/or North African and/or South Asian (MENASA); people with disabilities; people within the LGBTQIA+ community, genderqueer or non-binary; or those who identify with a religion, culture, age, ethnicity, nationality, or alienage that have been historically excluded in theatrical productions, or people having a combination of these attributes.
HIRING OBJECTIVES. It is the intention of the Company to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive team and working environment, and therefore the Company and its assigns agree to the extent such hiring decisions are permissible by law and are consistent with applicable collective bargaining agreements, as follows.
Hiring. Company shall use reasonable efforts to fill available roles from Historically Excluded Group(s), in such numbers as to reflect at least a significant and representative proportion of the total available roles.
Performers. Where the creators of a work have indicated specific physical attributes of a character that may be visible to an audience, Company and its assigns will cast members of Historically Excluded Group(s), only to the extent indicated by the creators intention.
Partnerships. When filling partnership opportunities, Creators shall use reasonable outreach efforts to fill available opportunities with organizations led by Historically Excluded Group(s), in such numbers as to reflect at least a significant and representative proportion of the total partnership opportunities for a given production. Company agrees to include this Rider as a required attachment to all contracts with outside parties, defined as any organization contracted by Company or partnered with Company, to the greatest extent possible.
REPORTS. The Company shall keep records of each person interviewed, auditioned or considered for all positions, and such records shall be made available to all contractors and employees, anonymized with names and any sensitive information redacted.
